How to choose a short course employers actually value
Five questions to ask before you pay for a course — and the warning signs to look out for.
By BDIT College Admissions ·

Short courses can change a career, but only if employers value what you learn. Before you register anywhere, ask these five questions.
1. What will I be able to do afterwards?
Good courses list concrete outcomes — "build a Power BI dashboard", not "understand data". If the outcomes are vague, the teaching probably is too.
2. Who teaches it?
Look for trainers who do the work they teach. A practising M&E officer will teach M&E differently from someone who only read about it.
3. Is there a practical project?
A project you can show in an interview is often worth more than the certificate itself.
4. Can the certificate be verified?
Employers increasingly check. Ask how they can confirm your certificate is genuine.
5. Does the schedule fit your life?
Evening, weekend and online options mean you do not have to choose between learning and earning.
